Portrait of Water is a feature-length documentary that lets audiences experience every drop of inspiration flowing between nature and humankind. The film strikingly connects the beauty of nature with profound questions of sustainability.
It tells the story of Czech composer Hanz Sedlář, who chose to leave his comfort zone and set out on an adventurous journey to understand water in the landscape. Together with experts, he explores how water moves through diverse environments — in the air, on the ground, and beneath the surface.
Their journey leads from Alpine peaks through forests, farmland, underground caves and small villages to cities of millions. Hanz's goal is not to become an activist, but to understand the complex relationships between water, landscape and people, so he can transform them into unique compositions. As he travels and works on the symphonic poems, he naturally opens up his own relationship with nature — and invites viewers to do the same.
